ABLS Writing Contest Submission Page

To our creative patrons, it’s that time of year again! We are now accepting submissions for our writing contest!

Contestants' entries can be the following: short stories, novel excerpts, poems, songs, fiction/nonfiction, auto/biographies, or something entirely different; be creative! All submissions will be judged by the following criteria: Clarity, Spelling, Grammar, and Creativity.

Only writing contest submissions in a Word File, Audio File, Braille File, or Mail-In Type-written format will be accepted.

The contest will be divided into four separate age groups: ages 8 and younger, ages 9 to 12, ages 13 to 17, and 18 and older. Your submission will automatically be entered to your age group.

Each entry has the potential to be added to our collection. If we select your entry to be added to the collection, we will notify you before it is published. Before a contestant's submission is added to the library's collection, it will be subject to proofreading.

This is an ABLS patron only event. Only one entry per patron; further submissions made by the same patron will not be accepted. Make sure your first entry is the one you want to enter in the contest.

All entries must be entered no later than Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

If you have any issues trying to upload your entry, please email clint.exum@dncr.nc.gov or call 984-236-1100 and ask to speak with a staff member involved with the writing contest.
