GRADUATE EDUCATION IN LIBRARY SCIENCE

Military servicemen and servicewomen as well as military spouse applicants are required to submit extra documents along with the application. If possible, please provide:

-Resume or description of library work experience

-Official transcript

-Public librarian certification documentation from another state.

COMPETENCIES CHECKLIST
North Carolina Administrative Code, Chapter 2, Subchapter 2J, Section .0102(b) requires that applicants for certification hold a master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited program or from a regionally accredited program of higher education in North Carolina and have completed coursework that addresses the following competencies: Cataloging, Reference, Collection Development, and Library Management.
 
* certificate courses, continuing education seminars, and field experiences will not be considered for certification.

To ensure the accuracy and integrity of academic records, we use the name as it appears in our official database at the time certification is awarded.

This procedure is designed to protect against the misuse of academic documents, avoid identity confusion, and help prevent fraudulent use of records. Please review the information submitted with your application carefully to ensure it is correct.



Please allow up to 2 weeks after the date of the NC Public Librarian Certification Commission meeting to be notified with the decision regarding your application.
