POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Underwriting Associate will be responsible for researching and analyzing the credit worthiness of prospective borrowers for commercial finance transactions. This includes assessing the risk based upon the financial health of the company, industry each company serves, as well as the underlying collateral value in conjunction with outside experts. The position requires the evaluation of middle market privately held and publicly traded companies. Transaction sizes range from $20 million to $200 million, with the average transaction being $30 million - $75 million.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform credit investigation and analysis of commercial finance applications.
- Manage diligence request lists and communicate directly with prospective clients to request additional information.
- Spread and analyze financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal financial statements, A/R & A/P reports, credit bureau results, real estate tax status, and other data in order to prepare loan evaluations.
- Create and sensitize financial statement and yield models.
- Perform industry analysis.
- Assist the team in preparing Credit Approval Memorandum for approval.
- Work with team, as required, to prepare packages for syndication. Monitor and track questions and information requests from potential co-lenders.
- Coordinate transaction closings with outside legal firms and internal operations.
- Consistently coordinate and communicate effectively with the CCO and senior management team, and work well with other functions within the organization.
- Attend outside client meetings as necessary.
- Interact professionally with executive officers, referral sources, attorneys and consultants as well as potential and existing customers.
- Complete work assignments within timeframes established.
