Topics Include:
  • Local child sex trafficking and exploitation trends.
  • The use of technology, including the internet, social media platforms and chatrooms to exploit youth.
  • Criminal elements, risk factors, and who to contact if you see the signs of a potential problem. 
  • Signs a child is being victimized, the “grooming” process, changes in behavior, and when to respond to the signs of trouble. 
  • Communication applications, social media and its contribution to the problem, direct messaging (DM), and sharing photographs.
  • Steps that school personnel can take to address the psychological and emotional affects that victims of exploitation may experience.
  • Social media, peer pressure and bullying.
  • The impact of social media consumption on psycho-social development. 
  • Presentation of case studies.
This training is limited to school district personnel and police departments in the Consolidated School District of New Britain, West Hartford Public Schools, Lebanon Public Schools, Watertown Public Schools, Vinal Technical High School, A.I. Prince Technical High School or districts that have previously participated in CIT-Youth training. Available seats will be opened to school personnel and law enforcement from other communities as space allows.

Cancellation Policy

Registrations may be cancelled up until 3 days prior to the course start.

No shows or cancellations occurring after this point are subject to a $25.00 per person cancellation fee.

A registered participant may be replaced/swapped with another participant from the same agency for the same training class without penalty up until the start of the training class.
