Chief Michael Fallon Memorial CIT Leadership Award

CIT Officer of the Year

Selection Criteria: The nominee must be a sworn law enforcement officer who demonstrates exceptional involvement, dedication, and/or support in the development and sustainment of CIT or in the use of the CIT skills in responding to calls.

In 500 words or less, please discuss how the officer has demonstrated dedication, compassion, skill and leadership as a CIT officer, including specific examples, as relevant.

Officer Paul Buchanan Memorial Peer Support Award

Selection Criteria: An individual public safety peer support team member or public safety peer support team.

The nominee should be an individual or team who:

Demonstrates diligence and perseverance in serving others, and whose service is above what is normally required or expected of a peer or a peer support team.

Has contributed significantly to the mission and advancement of peer support in the past year.

Has demonstrated exemplary performance and notable competence in responding to or providing support in the aftermath of a difficult or significant event.

Has exhibited notable, unusual courage or competence in response to a critical incident emergency, resulting in direct benefit to first responders, families, and/or communities.

Has done exemplary work in furthering the mission of peer support including inspiring others towards wellness and providing notable contributions to their agency and the community.

Has demonstrated the highest level of excellence and commitment in assisting others without need for personal gain or recognition.

In 500 words or less, please discuss how the individual or team meets selection criteria including specific examples, as relevant.

CIT/Mobile Crisis Clinician of the Year

Selection Criteria: Member of a DMHAS funded mobile crisis team

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

- Exceptional involvement, dedication, and/or support of the development of CIT and its sustainment.

- Establishment of strong partnerships and collegial relationships with law enforcement partners.

- Implementation of creative solutions to address crisis needs and have provided excellent service in coordinating services for individuals in crisis/living with mental health conditions.

- Other exemplary work/service in providing crisis services.

In 500 words or less, please discuss the ways in which the individual has accomplished the following, including specific examples, as relevant.

CIT Moment of the Year

Selection Criteria: Successful completion of CIT training; nominee may be a sworn law enforcement officer, mental health provider, or non-sworn personnel (dispatcher, fire, EMS, etc.). Nominations for interventions involving collaboration between multiple parties are acceptable.

Submissions should: respresent a difficult or challenging incident that exemplifies the CIT mission; involve the exemplary use of CIT skills during a crisis that resulted in a peaceful outcome as a result of the CIT intervention.

Supporting news articles, letters of commendation and photographs may be submitted - items that cannot be included in the submission form should be emailed to training@cablect.com (subject line: CIT Moment of the Year)
