Payments to the Ohio Propane Gas Association and the National Propane Gas Association are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However they may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, subject to restrictions imposed as a result of the 1994 Tax Act. The non-deductible dues portion for lobbying expenses in 2022 is 12% for NPGA and 11% for OPGA.

Independent Marketer:
Any person, firm, association, partnership or corporation engaged in the retail sale and distribution of propane gas in the State of Ohio only or in Ohio with no more than one plant in another State. Includes membership in the National Propane Gas Association. The NPGA portion of dues is billed based on the number of bulk plants a company has and is due when application is submitted.

Dues for one retail location is included in base dues rate.

Retail Location: A retail outlet is defined as a location where propane is stored, transferred and business is conducted with the public (in person or by the phone) or a combination of the above, excluding public refilling locations.

Bulk/Satellite Plant: Defined as any facility where the primary function is to store LP-Gas prior to further distribution, where LP-Gas is received by cargo tank motor vehicle, railroad tank car, or pipeline, and then distributed by portable container (package) delivery, by cargo tank motor vehicle, or through gas piping. A facility distributing gas through gas piping, such as a community gas system, is exempt from the definition of a “bulk Plant” unless the facility is used to transfer product into cargo tank motor vehicles for further discussion.

Associate/Supplier Member:
Any person, firm, association, partnership or corporation engaged in the production or manufacture, distribution, sale or installation of propane gas or propane gas equipment, appliances, containers, systems, insurance or other business related services. Membership in this category does not include membership in the National Propane Gas Association.

Associate Member ($375)

Cylinder Member:
Any entity engaged in retail sales of propane gas having no bulk tank truck, and with sales of less than 100,000 gallons per year. Membership in this category does not include membership in the National Propane Gas Association.

Cylinder Member ($175)

Individual Member:
Any person employed by a member firm of this Association and designated by such firm shall be eligible for individual membership in the Association. Membership in this category does not include membership in the National Propane Gas Association.
