Eligibility Requirements

Post 370 meets during the school year. In addition to regular session meetings, there will be other volunteer opportunities.

The Explorers Post is open to anyone aged 14 through 20.

Explorers will learn basic firefighting, rescue, and EMS skills, and will be introduced to firefighter culture through training and skills.

Explorers are issued fire gear and safety equipment, and work with members of the Austin Fire Department (AFD) in the same facilities used to train our professional firefighters.

Expectations include a positive attitude, adventurous spirit, and being ready to get sweaty and dirty!

AFD Explorers is a co-ed, Equal Opportunity program.
